At the Langley Research Center in Hampton, Va., they crunched the numbers from experiments in aeronautical wind tunnels, all the better to steer astronauts on launch and landing through Earth's atmosphere.

David Charles Aschmann, 63, of Farmington, NY passed away December 4 at Thompson Hospital, Canadaiqua, NY following a three year struggle with cancer. His mother Veronica, brother James D., and sister-in-law Martha were with him at the time of his death.
