Hastings Man Caught With $1.4K Worth Of Marijuana, Police Say

A Hastings-on-Hudson man is facing a felony drug charge after being busted with nearly two pounds of marijuana in the Rivertowns by a Greenburgh drug task force. Following an investigation into the sale of marijuana in the Rivertowns, which was conducted by members of the Greenburgh Drug and Alcohol Task Force, police arrested 34-year-old Christopher Varley on Thursday, March 30 on charges of second-degree criminal possession of marijuana and criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

Norbert Sander, armory restorer and NYC marathon winner, dies

Norbert Sander, the only New Yorker to win the New York City marathon, who turned the Armory in Washington Heights into one of the country's premier venues for indoor track, died March 17. He was 74. His death was described as unexpected; no cause was given. The Armory, built in 1911 and once home to the city's leading track events, had closed to sports in 1985 and its cavernous hall had turned into a homeless shelter for 2,000 people before Sander decided to revive the place.

'Dissent Is Patriotic:' Activists Support Immigrants At Westchester Rally

Shouting, "This is what democracy looks like!" and carrying signs proclaiming "Dissent is patriotic," some 50 demonstrators protested President Donald Trump's executive order on immigration Monday during a lunch-hour rally in downtown White Plains. The rally, at the fountain in Renaissance Plaza was organized by Social Justice Mondays, a coalition of groups that plans to hold demonstrations at the site every week to highlight a different social justice movement.
