If you like the idea of spending the day outdoors looking for bald eagles soaring above the Hudson River, Teatown's 11th annual EagleFest is for you. In celebration of the 150-plus bald eagles who spend the winter along the Hudson Valley waterways, a slew of events are slated to take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Croton Point Park in Croton-on-Hudson, both outdoors and in heated tents.

Hastings to Begin Deer 'Darting' Project Feb. 2

Hastings-on-Hudson will begin conducting its second Deer Immunocontraception Study on Feb. 2, Mayor Peter Swiderski announced in an email to residents Sunday. As preparations begin, the village is seeking the permission from residents to allow professional teams to come onto private property to carry out the process.

Elizabeth K. Mahas Ostach, 92, Of Yonkers; Retired From Sacred Heart School

Born Oct. 27, 1922, in Hastings-On-Hudson, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Mary Prince Mahas. She was a cafeteria worker in Sacred Heart School for 16 years until her retirement, and a longtime parishioner of Monastery Church of the Sacred Heart.

Wrong-Way DWI Driver Identified

Daniella Baccari, 39, of Mahopac, has been named by police as the alleged wrong-way driver arrested early Wednesday on the Saw Mill River Parkway in Hastings-on-Hudson. News 12 Hudson Valley reports she nearly slammed head-on into a Westchester County police officer who was traveling on the Saw Mill at the time.

Wrong-Way Driver Arrested on DWI Charge on Saw Mill in Hastings

A woman was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated early Wednesday on the Saw Mill River Parkway after Westchester County police stopped her for driving in the wrong direction. No injuries were reported.

Angela Gareri, of Silver Spring, Maryland and formerly of Hastings on Hudson and Middletown, NY, a homemaker, died on January 17, 2015 in Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C. She was 97.
