Police In Westchester Use Technology To 'Ping' Stolen Phone, Track Robbers

Police in Westchester County were able to "ping" a stolen cellphone to track down a group of reported robbers over the weekend. Shortly before 5:30 a.m. on Monday morning, members of the Mount Vernon Police Department were dispatched to South 10th Avenue when they received reports of a stolen cell phone that was being used in the city.

Bronxville Community Welcomes New Schools Superintendent

The Bronxville community recently welcomed new Schools Superintendent Roy Montesano with a rousing reception that included students, parents, faculty and administrators. Last year, current Superintendent David Quattrone announced his intention to retire at the end of the academic year, prompting the Board of Education to launch a lengthy search for his successor, which landed on Montesano, who will leave the same position in Hastings-on-Hudson.

Have You Seen Her? Hastings Girl Has Been Missing Since January

Law enforcement agencies are seeking the community's assistance in locating a Hudson Valley teenager that has been missing since January. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Hastings-on-Hudson Village Police Department have issued a missing person report for 16-year-old Sophia Salas, who was reported missing on Jan. 5. Salas has been described as an approximately 5-foot 5-inch bi-racial female, weighing approximately 145 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

County Board Wants Facetime with the New Hud Westchester County Affordable Housing Monitor

Members of the Democratic Caucus are calling for an open "Committee of the Whole" meeting with the new Housing Monitor to discuss what the Board can do to move forward with complying with the consent decree to end any further fiscal obligations of the County. "To save taxpayers from thousands of dollars in fines, we have no choice but to explore all actions we can take due to the County Executive's 'total obstructionism' - which were the Court's words, not mine," said Majority Leader Catherine Borgia .
